The month of Shivan is the ninth month in the Jewish civil calendar and the third month of the religious calendar. The Torah refers to the month simply as “the third month” as it says in Exodus 19:1, “In the third month after the sons of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that very day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.”
Shivan is the beginning of the first harvest season. Barley is harvested first and wheat second. On the first day of the harvest the people of Israel would bring the first share of the crops to the Temple, this was called the first fruit and they would have a great celebration.
Farmers need a lot of faith and hope for a great harvest in the harvest season. Farming takes courage, risk, and lots of patience. In the same way we all sow seeds in our lives daily, we know about some seeds and some we don’t know about, some we have patience with and some we neglect, and for some we don’t have any faith at all.

YOUR PORTION
Shivan is the season to move in power to go beyond the mindset of living in lack. We must not give up on our dreams and accept scarcity and struggle.
We are not victims, locked up in a belief system doomed for failure. A victim mindset is life happens to me and I must live according to what I’ve been dealt. But scripture calls us co-laborers with Christ. Meaning you have a part to play in the lack or abundance in your life.
Allow Holy Spirit to reveal limiting beliefs, or areas of hopelessness that cause you to stop dreaming or risking something new.
The good news is this pattern can be changed or shifted. We must refocus our awareness OFF neediness and ON feelings of gratitude and appreciation.
DECLARATIONS for the month.
I declare that it is written, so let it be.
I declare that I am free from worry, fear and lack.
I declare that I am going through the gate of abundance.
I declare that God can do anything. Faith = Risk
Shavuot is also traditionally observed as the anniversary of the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. It was on this day that all Israel heard God speak the Ten Commandments from the mountain. Israel beheld the smoking fire, the resounding shofar blast, the lightning and peals of thunder. It was a fearsome sight.
YOUR PORTION
God’s heart from the beginning of creation has been intimacy and union, to live amongst His people. The Law was given to the Israelites as a revelation of what would keep them out of God’s presence. Guilt and shame can keep you from the intimate presence of Father. Shivan is the month of revelation from the Word.
Find scripture that refers to the unlimited ability of God and say, “it is written, so let it be.” Allow Holy Spirit to reveal to you the heart of Father toward you through the Word.
Jesus told His disciples that he must go in order for Holy Spirit to come, this act took place during the feast of Shavuot.
“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]”. John 16:7
“But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father–the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future]”. John 16:13
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place, and suddenly a sound came from heaven like a rushing violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. There appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were being distributed [among them], and they rested on each one of them [as each person received the Holy Spirit]. And they were all filled [that is, diffused throughout their being] with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues (different languages), as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out [clearly and appropriately]”. Acts 2:1-4
YOUR PORTION
Jesus instructed his disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they had received the promise from Father. After Christ’s ascension, they received the promise, the outpouring of Holy Spirit in tongues of fire and a violent rushing wind.
During this Month allow yourself to fully connect with Fathers’ presence, Christ THE WORD that reveals Truth, and Ruach – Holy Spirit resurrection power.
Take a moment and ask yourself how do I connect with Father?
How do I connect with Christ?
How do I connect with Ruach?
We relate and connect differently to each one of them.
While researching the Month of Shivan I noticed something interesting:
The first encounter the Israelites had with God was Fire and Wind, and scripture mentions the fear of the people. The encounter the disciples had with Holy Spirit also came to them in Fire and Wind, but they had no fear only delight and a state of intoxication.
This is one of the reasons why I chose the Ruach oil for this month. Ruach in Hebrew means breath, wind and Spirit. Holy Spirit leads us, directs us, and guides us into the truth of Christ and Yahweh. It’s a gentle, peaceful guiding, with no fear attached to it.
The second thing I noticed, one came through the law and the other through grace. In the law we will always approach God with fear and performance, but through grace we can become the carriers of His Fire and we move with His Breath and His Power. It’s through grace that we transform. Now we are the indwelling earthen vessels of His Fire and Wind. May you discover a new revelation of the RUACH Breath, Power and Fire living inside of you!
May this month be filled with an awakening, creative creating and abundance.
Thank you for this word. Such a good reminder during these difficult times everyone is facing. We are free from lack and free from worry.
