14. Pillars of Rest – Kairos time

Last week I touched a little on what time is. This week I want to present some of my understanding of Kairos time.

After last week’s post, I was pondering on it and read some more scripture on time. I also discussed this topic with a phenomenal group of people, I love how everyone’s perspective brought a deeper understanding to a somewhat abstract concept.

“Kairos” is what many philosophers and mystics refer to as “deep time”. This Greek word is God’s dimension of time. God pierces time and space for the perfect moment of opportunity.

Another interpretation for Kairos is opportunity, season, or opportune time.

Perfect time to change your mind

Do this, knowing that this is a critical time. It is already the hour for you to awaken from your sleep [of spiritual complacency]; for our salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed [in Christ]. Romans 13:11

According to the above scripture, Kairos time is here. A call for action, conversion, and transformation. The Greek word metanoia means repentance to change one’s way of life resulting from pertinence or spiritual conversion — a change of life.

In the scripture Paul writes to awaken from spiritual complacency for salvation is nearer now than when they first believed in Christ. That suggests a time lapse and a renewal of the mind. This would suggest a deeper or new thought pattern of belief of who Christ is. They no longer believe the same they might have done yesterday. There should be a greater spiritual understanding.

In one of my previous blogs, I wrote rest is a time to reset. It is new every time we allow ourselves to sit in His rest. This correspondence with repentance. When we continue to repent of the way we approach God, life, others, and ourselves, we have a change of heart. If now is God’s opportune time, Kairos time, the experience of the now moment in our lives is a process of repentance. Real living comes when we initiate a plan of accountability and change not only in action but our whole lives.

Now after John [the Baptist] was arrested and taken into custody, Jesus went to Galilee, preaching the good news of [the kingdom of] God, and saying, “The [appointed period of] time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins, live your life in a way that proves repentance; seek God’s purpose for your life] and believe [with a deep, abiding trust] in the good news [regarding salvation].” Mark 1:14:15

Currency of Heaven

In the chapter of Mark Jesus was talking about fulfilled time. Christ’s purpose was achieved. Therefore, time is the currency of purpose fulfilled. We already have access to this fulfilled purpose in Christ. Jesus said the Kingdom of God is at hand. Live your life that proves your repentance, abiding in the trust that His purpose for you is already fulfilled. You are walking the path with Him. Open your awareness of His perfect time.

He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ, with regard to the fulfillment of the times [that is, the end of history, the climax of the ages]—to bring all things together in Christ, [both] things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him also we have [a]received an inheritance [a destiny—we were claimed by God as His own], having been predestined (chosen, appointed beforehand) according to the purpose of Him who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His will, Ephesians 1:9-11

The word pleasure also references back to the word Eden. Eden means pleasure. Adam and Eve walked and talked with God in the place of pleasure. It was the place of absolute rest. God’s plan all along was for you to return to pleasurable rest. To walk in the cool of the night with Him. Jesus’ purpose was fulfilled, making the way to return to our oneness with Him. Practicing rest is EDEN TIME. We find pleasures evermore sitting in Him, redeeming Eden time. This is the mystery of Him.

When we speak about currency, we also deal with the economy. The economy of time is how we spend time.

Now time

Now is the opportune time to be new. To be redeemed into the beginning of creation. Not linear time between life and death but eternal time. We come from eternity, we are in eternity and going to eternity. It’s all part of the circular time I spoke about in the last blog, not linear time. Read here: Time

Hebrews 11:1 talks about now faith. And we’re talking about now time. Everything we do in time and out of time affects eternity. Time is the ability to tap into eternity to create a new reality, and we do it through and in faith.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Time is a created thing: to say I don’t have time; is to say I don’t want to” Lao Tzu

State of Flow

I believe in living my life flowing and sensing in my spirit what “feels” right. When you find yourself in Kairos time, you completely lose track of Chronos time (linear time). It is a state of flow that is activated and it cannot be measured, only experienced. It’s the bliss of Eden.

Past time is already received, now is your perfect time, to repent, (change your mind). To find the place where you lose all your time. Only to return to created time and influence your purpose.

You are already in perfect rest your practice is to remain in rest.
