Autumn is in the air and the days are getting shorter. I must admit that this time of the year is not my favorite time. I am more of a spring – summer girl. If I could hibernate through these upcoming months and rise again in spring that would be fantastic.
However, these next few months are designed to bring light into the darkness. Let us look at the month of Cheshvan.
Cheshvan is the second month in the Jewish civil calendar and the eighth month on the religious calendar. Eight represents new beginnings, infinity, and the God of Miracles.
The Jewish tradition is to hold this month as being reserved for Messiah to return, therefore there are no Jewish festivals to celebrate in this month.
Historical occurrences that took place in this month:
- King Solomon completed his seven-year construction of the First Temple -1 Kings 6:38
- In the days of Noah, the Great Flood began and ended a year later in the same month – Genesis 7-11. The Floods were a time where God’s righteous judgment reigned upon the earth and over man.
After the holiday month of Tishrei with its many festivals, Cheshvan is seen as the month to get back to work, hand to the plow. It is a time when soil is prepared, and seeds are sown. Cheshvan is the rainy season in Israel. So, as the seeds are sown in the soil the new beginning of growth starts deep in the darkness of the soil.
YOUR PORTION:
To prepare your soil for new seed, to sow your seed, and to wait on the rain to feed that seed – in order for you to receive a harvest.
This time of the year we move into the darkest time. The days are shorter and the dark night hours rule.
YOUR PORTION:
Cheshvan is an opportunity to bring light into dark shorter days of winter!

This brings me to our Anointing Oil for the month: Styrax – pure speech.
Styrax come from the Hebrew word Nâtâph meaning “to ooze”.
Prophetically it means to speak by inspiration. According to scripture, inspiration means “God’s breathed-out Word”
Wow! Is that not the coolest thing ever? Let us imagine it for a while. Imagine if the body of Christ oozed with God’s breathed-out Word. When something is oozing it is difficult to stop or control the flow of it. We will be unstoppable, moving as one – inspired by His heart.
I chose this oil because our very WORDS become the new seed, new beginning, rain falling, refreshing light in the darkness. We WILL ooze with Him, His heart, His righteousness, His love and His fullness, if we are filled with the breath of His word and with the light of His word. His authority is released over our lives, as we express His words back to Him in an attitude of rest, peace, worship, oneness and union with Him.
We have an opportunity to change our perceptions of reality into a new harvest of TRUTH – through the words we utter. We can either be revelation from God’s heart or we can be reacting to our emotions regarding what we are seeing and experiencing.
Let us align our speech to the breathed-out word of God because everything exists through Him.
“Yet for us there is only one God – the Father. He is the source of all things, and our lives are lived for him. And there is one Lord, Jesus, the Anointed One, through whom we and all things exist”. (1 Corinthians 8:6).
We anoint ourselves as an act of faith – declaring a purification in our utterances… Allowing ourselves to submit to the creative power of His Word in our lives.
Blessings
